The Blue Thunder remembers Director David A. Wells
July 15, 2009
On May 8, 2009 founding director David A. Wells was honored by family, friends, and students as a personal inspiration and an endless source of positive enthusiasm. His boundless energy and larger-than-life personality have become hallmarks of the Blue Thunder. Professor Wells helped initiate the Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band in 1987, and has presided over a legacy of excitement, music, and spectacle that has entertained Bronco fans for over two decades. Students who became members of the band are forever influenced by this wonderfully unique experience. In tribute to David Wells, the Blue Thunder itself led the recessional out of the May 8th memorial service as a final display of joy and esteem for the leader of the band.
The legacy of David A Wells will continue to guide the future of the band. Members will wear a memorial patch on the right sleeve of the uniform in commemoration of all that Professor Wells has meant to his students.
